hello my name is bob, i know how to swim, do you know how to swim? i like to be in the water. it is fun when i swim with the fishes. do you want to come and swim with me, if you swim with me you'll sink too ;)
A hyperbole, to me a hyperbole is an exaggeration, the effect of this technique could be drawing in the reader by making things more intense or scarier then they really are. 
He's as skinny as a piece of paper.
My shoes are killing me.
