In Social Studies we were learning about the different types of Governments. We learnt about the Government in New Zealand as well as the Government we chose to learn about. I learnt about Republic in the Roman Empire.
Republic in the Roman Empire
Bold Font = important - Italics = useful but not too important

The Roman Empire government is a monarchy.

With the Romans, back in like 47BC ish there was a specific person named Julius Caesar
who ruled the government up until 44BC when he died. The main Government representatives from
their on were just people who wanted to run the Government on their own without any help *some kinda
name thingy*.

Members of Government back then

From 97 to 117 Trajan was the Roman Emperor.

Mark Antony was a Roman politician and general who played a critical role in the transformation of
the Roman Republic from an oligarchy into the autocratic Roman Empire. Mark ruled from 43 to 30 BC.

Gaius Julius Caesar was a Roman Politician and a historian who played one of the more important
roles in the demise of the Roman Republic and the rise of the Roman Empire. He ruled/reigned from
46 to 44 BC. Julius Caesar is more popularly known for his military mind and when he declared
himself dictator for life. Although he did not rule for long he gave Rome fresh hope and a whole dynasty
of emperors.
Fun fact or whatever - Julius Caesar had romantic relations with Cleopatra, Cornelia and when he died
it was Calpurnia.

Roman Republic vs Roman Empire (the difference between the two)
The difference between the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire was primarily one of a patina of
democracy versus outright dictatorship. Under the Republic, Rome was governed by a Senate, its
members appointed by two powerful consuls whose tenures were strictly restricted to avoid the emergence
of an absolute dictator.

Why did Rome become a Republic?
It began when Romans threw a specific type of government in 509 BC placed in the North of Rome,
the Etruscans had ruled over the Romans for hundreds of years. Once free, the Romans established a
republic, a government in which citizens elect representatives to rule on their behalf.

How did the Roman Empire rise?
It started by the Romans wanting and aiming to take control of the Mediterranean, once they had control
of the sea it gave them an increasing military and economic advantage.  Rome’s naval power helped its
growth by effectively fending off its enemies and providing the necessary security to ensure the economy
grew. The military was equipped with the later weapons such as siege machines. Thus, it has been
suggested that the Romans were quite technologically advanced.

The war between Mark Anthony and Octavian...
When the Second Triumvirate came to an end, a civil war began between Octavian and Mark Antony.
While Mark Antony was with his army in the eastern portion of the empire, Octavian built a power base
in Rome. He soon launched an attack against Mark Antony, who had allied with Cleopatra VII of Egypt.
Octavian defeated Mark Antony and Cleopatra at the Battle of Actium in 31 BC.
