Paragraph: In this scene at the trains station, lighting ans colour are used substantially to show the theme of 'Rich vs Poor'. In this case, rich means the privileges given to those in the capitol. This is demonstrated through the use of bright, cold, artificial lighting and a modern colour palette of whites as well as greys for the buildings, also vibrant pinks and blues for the clothing. This makes the audience feel like the location of the scene is very modern and citizens are excited for the tributes to arrive. The purpose of this was to show that the Capitol has the privilege of technology - trains, better clothing and electricity. This worked well with the use of costumes. The costumes of the Capitol are unique, exquisite and exotic which shows they have a much bigger variety of clothing options as well as better sewing technology. This can be juxtaposed to the conditions in District 12 where there is no electricity and the colours and lighting is more natural.
